Definition:

Smart Meter:  A smart meter is usually an electrical meter that records consumption in intervals of an hour or less and communicates that information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing purposes.  A smart meter enables two-way communication between the meter and the central system.  Unlike home energy monitors, smart meters can gather data for remote reporting.

Utility n.:  A commodity or service such as electricity or water that is provided by a public utility

Recovery n.:  The restoration to a former or better condition

Management n.: The act, manner or practice of managing; handling, supervision or control

Meter n.: Any of various devices designed to measure time, distance, speed or intensity or indicate and record or regulate the amount or volume, as the flow of gas or an electric current.
